There are a number of types of modeling jobs to choose from, besides the traditional runway modeling that everyone usually thinks of. In addition to runway modeling, you can have a successful career modeling products for specific companies or posing for magazines. There are specific teen modeling jobs, along with modeling and acting jobs for television or film. Here are a few other types of paid modeling jobs that may be a good fit for a novice looking to start a new career.
Runway Modeling
Of course, runway modeling is the type that most people are familiar with. These modeling jobs have been exposed to some controversy in recent years due to accusations of eating disorders and pressure to remain thin. Fortunately, the extreme cases of abuse have been cleaned up and most runway models do adhere to a healthy diet. But even on a healthy diet, runway modeling is the area of the thin, so it will probably not be an option for larger models. There are great plus-size fashion modeling jobs available these days, so everyone is able to pursue a job that suits their style.
Range Showing Modeling
Range showing modeling is another variation of runway modeling that allows you to work a more regular schedule. These types of modeling jobs generally are worked during normal business hours and offer the option of picking up extra shifts to earn overtime. Range showing modeling is where a customer makes a specific appointment to visit the designer and see a show involving their line. The customer can then choose exactly which items they wish to stock in their own store.
Photographic Modeling
This type of modeling job is usually done for a magazine, brochure or catalog. Many commercial products are now hiring their own photographic models to accentuate the features of their products. These models can generally be of any ethnic background or age group, making it a very accessible way to start off a modeling career. Even the model’s height is not typically a consideration unless specific clothing is being modeled.
Male Models
There are plenty of opportunities in fashion modeling for men today. Male models do not have to be bodybuilders or have perfectly ripped abs to be successful. There are a number of different types of male modeling jobs to choose from, even some for older men who are needed for specific products or magazines.
